Dr. Abbey Robin Durkin, book author, founder, and representative director of Japan-based Kintsugi
Consulting, is a top international psychology expert in the Tokyo and Kanto regions, sought after by
individuals and organizational leaders alike. She helps adults, children, leaders, and organizations become the best versions of themselves. Her clinical practice covers therapy and healing for adults, children, couples, and families. Dr. Durkin is a frequent keynote speaker. She is the vice president of the International Mental Health
Professionals Japan, and organizes the association’s yearly conference. She is affiliated with the Tokyo
Medical Surgical Clinic, specialising in weight management, and the Tokyo Cancer Clinic, specialising in
lifestyle medicine. She is a partner of the Effective Storytelling Academy of Japan to advance emotional
literacy for children and families. Dr. Durkin is a provider for US Military Veterans through VES, conducting PTSD disability evaluations. She is a member of the French Chamber of Commerce in Japan
Before entering private practice in Japan, Dr. Durkin served as the Chief Psychologist for the Defense
Attaché Service. She advised, intervened, and helped ambassadors, embassy staff, and military attachés at all levels. She is an expert in helping people and organizations overcome crises and trauma. She has counseled and healed people who have survived extreme trauma like detention, noxious media exposure, and combat; clinical experience that informs her in helping people in her civilian therapy practice.
Dr. Abbey-Robin completed her PhD at the age of twenty-five from Palo Alto University and Stanford
University, specializing in early intervention for traumatic stress. She is a retired U.S. Army Major. Dr.
Durkin meets clients online when it is convenient, but if you meet her in person, she is often accompanied by her emotional support dachshund, Karaage, whose Japanese name translates to "chicken nugget” in English.

After completing her BA in Cognitive Science at Occidental College in Los Angeles, California, Ms. Ally Fukada went on to complete her MSc in Counseling Studies from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. She is working towards her certification as an Employee Assistance Professional counselor, and is providing comprehensive psychological counseling under the supervision of Dr. Durkin at Kintsugi Consulting. Simultaneously, Ms. Fukada is serving as a counselor-in-residence at Resilie Laboratory Inc.
Ally has expertise in living a multicultural and multinational life. Her childhood was spent between Singapore and Tokyo, which sparked reflection upon her own Japanese-American heritage. Ally’s unique personal history laid the foundation for her passion of finding ways to serve the mental health needs of children, adolescents, and adults in Japan.

Ms. Fukada particularly enjoys supporting people through Emotionally Focused Therapy, an approach helping people focus on their emotions and work to change negative relational patterns in their life. Furthermore, she supports people through a culturally responsive lens, which prioritizes the respect and understanding of a person’s cultural unique background.
